Meet Jason Gillard

Hope Ahead is DBT informed practice. Jason Gillard, LCSW , a compassionate and skilled instructor, teaches and instills the cope ahead skill with a gentle and empathetic approach. By addressing what we fear, we can prepare ourselves to cope with it more effectively. This preparation helps us decrease our reactivity by processing the fear now, rather than being overwhelmed by it.

We can live with less pain and more peace by neutralizing our fears. We can be better prepared for painful times, knowing that we have the tools to manage our emotions. This skill provides hope—hope that we can have a life worth living, even in the face of challenges. We can Hope Ahead.

Jason's caring and validating style ensures that patients feel supported and understood. He helps them build confidence in their ability to cope with difficult emotions and situations. Through this DBT-informed practice, patients can find a sense of hope and empowerment, knowing that they can navigate their fears and live a more fulfilling life.

With over 20 years of clinical experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my work. My journey started on a small organic farm in the Midwest, where I developed a deep connection with the earth and learned the value of nurturing crops and animals. Transitioning from a small town to bustling Los Angeles, I embraced change and embarked on a path of growth.

I firmly believe in the power of growth through learning, traveling, and hearing others' stories. Every individual has a unique and fascinating tale to share. As an enthusiastic reader and lifelong learner, I continuously expand my knowledge by taking classes. During my undergraduate studies in Liberal Arts, with a focus on philosophy and psychology, I discovered a harmonious blend of these disciplines which shapes my approach today.

Philosophy provides me with a profound understanding of clinical perspectives rooted in centuries of wisdom. Psychology equips me with scientific knowledge on behavior and clinical interventions. The study of religions offers valuable insights into the human condition. Exploring different beliefs and perspectives helps me better understand my patients' mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

I have obtained my Master's in Social Work from the prestigious USC, and I currently work at Kaiser Permanente Behavioral Health. I have developed DBT adherent programs at 2 clinics.

Beyond my clinical work, I am the founder of Hope Ahead DBT. Although currently a part-time practice, my primary focus remains on Kaiser and the development of large-scale DBT programs in various clinics. Additionally, I nurture my other interests, such as technology, law, and history. Music is a passion of mine, and I love playing the guitar and attending concerts.

If you're looking for a warm, experienced professional who is dedicated to personal and professional growth, I am here for you. Let's embark on a transformative journey together.
